How to use CEP Communication Tools
How to use the blog:
Well, it’s intended for the CEP community: faculty, staff, current students and alumni are contributors. Prospective students and other interested people are welcome to comment on posts! Please email cep.communications@gmail.com if you would like to be added as a contributor. Thanks!
1. The first step is creating a wordpress account. To do so go here http://wordpress.com/signup/ to sign up for one.
Notes:
It is preferred that you use your UW email for this process.
You do not need to create a blog to become a member of the CEPweb and CEP Notes community. You may simply select “Just a user name, please.” to avoid having to create one.
2. After completing this step you need to check your email and authenticate the name and email you have just chosen for your wordpress account.
3. The next step is notifying communications of the email address you have chosen to use the blog. Please click here to do so https://catalysttools.washington.edu/webq/survey/ceemo/68379 .
4. Wait for your confirmation that informs you that Communications has added you to the blog and notes list of users.
Write a Post
Please choose at least one category when you post, and use the “tags.” Tags are a way that people can find your post easily later. So if you were writing a post about DDT concentration in polar bears, that post could be tagged: bears, DDT, food chain. It would go in the Environment category, and also the News category if you were responding to a specific article you saw somewhere.
If you are writing a post and run out of steam, you can choose “Save” and come back to it later–people can’t see it until you click “Publish.” But you can also edit it later. For good blogging etiquette, you should always mark that you edited something in your published post by putting *edit* or using the strikethrough button like so if someone has responded to it.
Privacy
You can make a post password protected. Ask ComCom how.
